What is usually needed
- Commercial invoice and packing list.
- The transport document: bill of lading, air waybill or CMR.
- Your company’s EORI number.
- Electronic authorisation of your customs representative in ICISnet, using TAXISnet credentials.
- Certificates of origin, licences or inspection certificates, where the goods require them.
The exact list depends on the goods, their origin and their destination.
Today’s framework
- The Union Customs Code has applied since 01/05/2016. The new Regulation (EU) 2026/2108 was published on 19/09/2026 and its main provisions apply from 21/09/2027.
- For shipments into the EU, safety and security data is filed before arrival through ICS2, for all transport modes.
- Since 01/01/2026 the definitive CBAM regime applies to imports such as steel, aluminium and cement.
